New All-In-One pack for Connected Server 1.4 released

I updated the All-In-One pack to work with DivX Connected  Server Build 1.4.

- Included support for several new audio codecs
- Updated ffdshow and Haali splitter to latest versions
- Fixed the ffdshow video registry file. The last version resized the videos by default.

This time the pack comes in two flavours.

FOR DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO INSTALL THE PACK PLEASE SEE:
Playback more than just DivX - Revised Edition

Standard Edition (uses ffdshow for MKV/AVC playback)
WinZip file
WinRar file

For dare devils and danger seekers:
The Rémoulade Edition (uses DivX Rémoulade for MKV/AVC playback)

WinRar file

Known issue with Rémoulade edition: Jumping to virtual chapter points in 1088i files doesn't seem to work here.
Should you notice any other problems, please be so kind and report them to DigitAl56K.

Difficult to do a remote diagnosis. What CPU are you using?

Don't forget, when streaming to the Connected Box, any video other than DivX gets transcoded to DivX on the fly. That means the video first gets decompressed and then recompressed again. This requires a different "horsepower" than just playing it back on the PC where it "only" needs to be decoded.

So if you're PCs are still Pentium 4 for example and your video is HiDef then I'd say that lack of "horsepower" is most likely the case for this behaviour. With a Core 2 Duo on the other hand and 2 GBs RAM you should definitely be doing okay.

Old IT rule says: Never touch a running system!

... is currently not possible with Connected for any file that needs the DirectShow plugin. You'll have to use virtual chapter points (0...9 on the remote) instead. So definetly no need to update!

Sorry to disappoint you! But multi audio tracks with DS plugin aren't supported (yet).

Did you follow the setup instructions from this post?

I just had a chat with Dan from DivX and passed on your question. Here's what he had to say!

kamiwa:With the upcoming DivX 7 pack, will DivX natively support the MKV container on the Connected Box? A short statement from the DivX Connected PM might look quite good on my blog! :-)

Dan: The simplest answer to his question is yes. :-)
We will support MKV (h.264/AAC) with Connected soon after DivX7 launches. The server would transcode to DivX ASP if the device cannot play DivX Plus

kamiwa: But will this include all the features of the MKV container as well? I mean things like trick play, subtitles, multi audio, chapters ?

Dan: If you mean DivX features, then yes! :-)
Connected will inherit all of the DivX 7 MKV features soon after they are enabled in the DivX player.

kamiwa: What about DD 5.1 decode?

Dan: Yes, soon after they are supported in the DivX Player. Not in the first release though

kamiwa: That's probably never then :-) So what do you think? Early next year?

Dan: I hate to give time frames, since sooo many things can happen to throw it off.
The Lovebug alpha will be available soon, but it will not have DivX7. So it most likely will be a part of the Lovebug beta and the product release.
