For Daredevils and Dangerseekers

For those of you, who already manged to get invited to the Beta testing group of Project Rémoulade and have already downloaded DivX's new H.264 decoder and now would like to see it perform on your Connected box, here is a download link to a modified config file:
RAR version: DCDShowPlaybackPlugin.rar This config will make Connected server use DivX AVC decoder instead of using ffdshow for H264 playback. It should give you much better results for HD material especially on slower machines. (Mind this is the first beta and thus it might not work, hence the title of the post) EDIT: For the moment, you can forget about using DivX AVC with Connected. Due to a tiny, but very efficient bug, DivX AVC won't get used by Connected no matter what you put into the config! EDIT 2: Rémoulade does work now with Connected server 1.3. So you can now use the above config. But please bear in mind, that Rémoulade is in early Beta stage. I personally had six videos here, which made the decoder and - as a follow up - Connected server crash. |

I hope they pay you for this constant work ;)
I made one myself, and it didn't work. It just won't let me press play, i click on the vid, and then i can go left and right, to play and back, but pressing play does nothing.
Tried your config, does the same thing...how come it works for you?
Because I'm a Daredevil, a Dangerseeker and was born on a Sunday!
BETA! Chances are the codec doesn't like your videos. Do they play in MPC with the new codec?
EDIT: Just checked and had to find out that it was a Saturday and not a Sunday. Darn, another illusion down the drain!
Yes, they do work for me in MPC and WMP, with the new codec, better than ffdshow actually....

I just zapped through my AVC MKVs and it seems that I at least can start all of them.
[JavaScript Error: "playbackContainer has no properties" {file: "chrome://connec
ted/content/playback.js" line: 242}]
This is the Connected console gives me, does that help?
-Karolis.
Forwarded it to one of the Connected devels. Let's see what he comes up with!
Are you using a modified theme or any plugins? I'm not into this at all, but AFAIK javascript is only used by the GUI themes and the plugins!
I think i know why the error is coming up. The reason for this is that the MKV have been found when they were actually working, now if i add new files, or readd new files they don't show up when scanning/rescanning, so there must be a problem in either the config file and the way my machine interprets it, and the actual decoder.
-Karolis.
Karolis, if you want, I can check whether your files are working here.
Use MKVMerge to chop of a small chunk of an existing MKV file. (Hint: Main Screen->Tab Global->Enable splitting. Then simply stop the muxing process when after the first file part has been created.)
Upload the file to some location or contact me (need to log in, to do so) for an FTP upload link. Let me know, where I can find the snippet and I can check what's going wrong!

Due to a tiny bug in the Connected server, under certain circumstances the new DivX AVC codec will not get used. The bug is already fixed. An updated server will be available soon.
Thanks to d00kl1.
So if i tried 50 more different files, one of them might have worked? Or basically, you got it working because you have those different sort of files?
Honest, the best advise I can give you, is to wait for the next Connected build. Currently you can forget it.
Edit: I perhaps should add that the bug is not dependant on the type of the source files. As a matter of fact the DivX AVC codec didn't get used here either, but instead, although I had added the DivX AVC decoder part to the config and removed avc1 from ffdshow, AVC still got decoded by ffdshow. Only noticed by coincidence.
Yea, I'll be waiting for the next build, hopefully it will be v1.3, as I believe that is due in May, and you know, it is May!
-Karolis.
Well with the updated config not only does remoulade not work....nothing besides divx seem to work...downgrading now hopefully that solved this problem!
Are you using DivX Connected 1.3.0., Build 55?
Did that do the trick?
Yes it did!
But how do I see that remoulade is udes instead of ffdshow?
Well it works for some files..... al lot of files that were recognized (and played with previous versions) now end up with a quuestionmark instead of a screen shot!
Exit Connected Server
Get latest ffdshow from SourceForge and install it.
Install MatroskaSplitter.exe from AllInOne-Pack
Install osflvsplitter.1.0.0.4_nt.exe from AllInOne-Pack
Configure ffdshow audio by double-clicking ffdshow audio.reg from AllInOne-Pack
Configure ffdshow video by double-clicking ffdshow video.reg from AllInOne-Pack
Install DivX Rémoulade
Use config file from Daredevil post DCDShowPlaybackPlugin.rar
Remove DCAzureusPlaybackPlugin.dll from
C:\Program Files\DivX\DivX Connected\Bin\DivX Connected\framework\playback
Restart Connected Server
Rescan folders
If you're still getting files that won't play or questions marks, please state, what file types don't play.
Well it didn't work....rolled back to the config file without remoulade and most files work..... decided to remove the not working files and redownload...will let you know what happens!
Did your video come from a BluRay source or it has DTS audio? If yes, I think i may have a fix for ya, as I was having a problem with DTS...just lemme know..
Can you please help me to play *.m2ts files with DSM – 330 player
Got a possibility to upload a small sample somewhere? So that I can check, what video and audio is contained?
Hi,
First of all: I love your Allin1 pack, it works great for mkv and other videos I tried, but I can't get MPG to play.
I used a tool that makes a flowchart of all codecs used (can't remember the name) and it's all there but still my D-Link DSM-330 says: resolution 0x0 and it won't play.
I don't know if it's MPEG1 or MPEG2, is there a way to test? Because of quality (I can play them on my Kiss) I'd say it must be MPEG2.
Also some bitsream packed xvids/divxs won't play sometimes, but removing the bitstream with MPEG3Modifier works great.
Hi..........
Thanks for the quick response,

FYI – I can play this file in Windows Media player / VCL / PowerDVD but can’t get the file to display in DIVX Connected server.

... are two fabulous tools to get more info about your videos.
GSpot: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
MediaInfo: http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
Try the following:
Quit the Connected server.
Open C:\Program Files\DivX\DivX Connected\Bin\DivX Connected\DCDShowPlaybackPlugin.config in notepad or another text editor..
Find the line <formatId>TS</formatId>
Duplicate that line and in the added line replace TS with M2TS.
Save the file and restart Connected (or to make sure, reboot the pc)
Re-scan the folder that contains your m2ts files. It normally should work, Unfortunately the file you uploaded seems to have some problems with the audio. At least in Media Player Classic it had. So Connected listed it but refused to play it. Perhaps you have more luck.
djoelkast,
do you happen to understand some Kraut? Because a few days ago I most likely answered your MPG problem here in this thread:

Unfortunately (for you :-)) it's in German. If you need translation, lemme know, currently too lazy.

Ooops. I forwarded your report to DivX. Will let you know, when I get an answer.
For now, just delete the added M2TS line from the config file.
Thanks Appreciate your help
Would it be possible to support nero digital AVC?
I still have some of those files, and no time to transcode them properly.
Did you try yet, if they play? Normally they should work just fine!
I guess my last post did not arrive.
I still can't play MPG nor VOB files, even if they are regular MPEG DVD VOB files.
Any ideas on this?
Apart from that: is it possible to get DD 5.1 or dts from mkv files stremed over the optical output so I can enjoy full 5.1 and not a downstreamed stereo signal?
